Day of the
dead
1.
How did you
celebrate the Day of the Dead in your family 30 years ago?
My
parents put an altar for their dead and it was the day we remembered all our
relatives who left.

Did they make
offerings in their homes or in the pantheon?
We
made an offering at home and in the cemetery over the tombs.
3.
In the village of
Mixquic, have you always celebrated the dead?
When
I was a child, my grandparents told me that celebrating this ancestral cult of
the deceased is of pre-Hispanic origin.

Did you like to see
the candles lit when you were a child?
Yes,
I liked it a lot because you can accept different smells, like incense, flowers
and food.
5.
Did they put
photographs on their altars of the dead?
In
my house, my parents put the photography of my grandparents and some relatives
who had a picture.
6.
Did you put
something or food in the offering for someone special?
Yes,
I put a plate of Mole for my grandmother and a bottle of tequila for my
grandfather.
7.
Did you go to the
cemetery with your family on the Day of the Dead when you were young?
Yes,
on November 2 we went almost at nightfall, to stay all night praying, singing
and listening to the chimes of the church until dawn.
